Transitional Assistance Program

The Community Development Trust (CDT) is a three-year program in B.C. helping forest workers, their families and their communities get through challenging times in the forest sector. The CDT creates new job opportunities, helps laid-off workers upgrade their skills and smoothes the transition of older workers who want to leave their forest sector jobs.

Are you over 60 and wanting to leave the forest sector? Apply for assistance to help make the transition.

In 2008, this program received a total of $85.5 million in funding. To date, about $65 million has gone out to forest workers, leaving $20 million for the program to distribute to older workers in 2009.

To assist as many eligible applicants as possible and to position the industry for future success, the program is focused on workers 60 and older for 2009.

The final window to apply for the program is from July 1 through August 31, 2009.
