BARGAINING BULLETIN #3 NOVEMBER 2008

BC INTERIOR USW WOOD COUNCIL

WAGE & CONTRACT CONFERENCE UPDATE
Over the past couple of months, USW members in the southern and northern Interior have brought forward demands in the form of resolutions to their Local Unions.

In total there were 443 resolutions.

On November 16 and 17, 2008, your Provincial Negotiating Committee (PNC) met to consolidate the list of resolutions down to a workable group of demands.
The PNC consists of:

♦ Bob Matters, Wood Council Chair
♦ Frank Everitt, USW 1-424
♦ Bill Derbyshire, USW 1-425
♦ Marty Gibbons, USW 1-417
♦ Bruce Gardner, USW 1-423
♦ Stan McMaster, USW 1-405

On November 18, the PNC presented the resolutions to the elected delegates from the five local unions in Kamloops, BC. The delegates accepted, debated, substituted and rejected the various demands and a final list of approximately 50 demands was ratified by the Wage and Contract Conference.

Thank-you to all the delegates and members who participated in the process to develop our demands for Interior bargaining in 2009. Your PNC will be meeting over the next two months, along with research and legal staff, to develop formal contract proposals out of the Wage and Contract demands. You can expect further bulletins as we get closer to negotiations.
