Apprenticeship Preparation - Self Test

Apprenticeships may be on the horizon for workers in Elko and even in other USW union operations. It cannot be stressed enough that workers interested in obtaining an apprenticeship must take it upon themselves to become prepared to write the apprenticeship exam.

You should ask either the Local Union office, or the Company office for a copy of the Apprenticeship Self-Test. Then do the self-test and judge the areas you need to study. Improving your knowledge in areas of the self-test you failed may mean anything from a simple self-review, to enrolling in an educational course.

Most importantly, if you are interested in an apprenticeship in our forest industry, you must start NOW with this self-test. Do not leave it until an apprenticeship is posted, with only a month or less of study time.
